Common questions

ClinicalTrials.gov (all registered trials globally), FDA CDER/CBER (pipeline, designations, approvals), USPTO (patent filings and expirations), SEC EDGAR (biotech financials and pipeline disclosures), and an aggregated public search signal from Clincol.org. All data is refreshed daily via scheduled Netlify functions.
The gap score (0–100) is a weighted composite of: trial pipeline density (how few trials exist for an indication), patient burden (prevalence and severity), designation eligibility (Orphan, Breakthrough, Fast Track proximity), patent landscape proximity (how far from first-to-file opportunity), and Clincol public awareness signal. Weights are adjusted quarterly based on clinical outcome correlations.

Yes — 80% discount for verified academic institutions and 501(c)(3) nonprofits. Clincol.org itself uses our infrastructure at zero cost as a built-in structural commitment. Contact grants@arbitrant.com with your institutional email to apply.
Clincol.org is our nonprofit partner that provides free drug safety information to the public. When many people search for information on a drug or disease indication on Clincol, that aggregate (anonymized) search volume is fed back as a gap signal into Arbitrant’s scoring model. High public awareness + low trial density = an underserved indication that the public is actively seeking solutions for.
